This chapter serves as a primary resource for knowledge about basics of e-learning and what are the attributes involved in it. E-learning will be described from different points of view as sometimes terminological differences do baffle the scholars attempting to conceptualize it. Other forms of e-learning i.e., communication and information technology will be described. The learners especially the collegiate, the administrators and library managers will be beneficial from this. Further the chapter hints about collection, management and delivery of these resources. Recent and state-of-the-art developments will be featured in the chapter. E-learning will be discussed in relation to these terms: online learning, computer-based learning, blended learning, learning objects, distributed learning, interactive learning materials, computer-mediated learning, computer-mediated communication and web-based training.
